Project Overview

Facility is a 4v4 multiplayer map designed for Lyra, a game template for Unreal Engine 5, fully realized (including documentation) within a tight 3-week production window as part of a academic exercise at Objectif 3D.

Key Contributions

  • Learning Multiplayer Design : To meet the project requirements, I researched multiplayer map design by analyzing classics like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, and Call of Duty. These studies informed our layout’s three-lane structure, spawn safety protocols, and high-traffic zone positioning blending proven formulas with our unique mechanics.

  • Experience with new organizational tools : This project was a defining point for the future; I tested production tools such as Obsidian, TeamHood, and Notion to see which I felt most comfortable with.

Process

The writing

I write to approach the level design literally, which helps me restructure my thoughts and constraints :

  • GOALS – What am I trying to achieve, why, and how?

  • ELEMENTS – What do I have at my disposal?

  • GAMEPLAY BEATS – What do I want the player to feel?

  • QUESTIONS – Questions I have and should answer later.

  • SEQUENCES – Things I’d like to include in the level.

Presentation

For our level design presentation, I developed a slide deck detailing the LD vision and references, proposing a three-lane urban layout inspired by competitive maps like Call of Duty Maps.

Post Mortem

This exercise proved foundational to my education—not only did I master organizational tools like Obsidian, Notion, and Teamhood to streamline production, but I also embraced iterative design as a core philosophy. Through relentless refinement, I transformed initial level blockouts into polished gameplay experiences, proving that repetition isn’t redundancy.
